GST collections rise 4.6pc in October
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections stood at Rs1,95,936 crore in October 2025, marking a 4.6 per cent increase over Rs 1,87,346 crore collected in the same month last year, according to provisional data from the Finance Ministry.
The latest figures reflect a steady improvement in gross revenue, largely supported by higher receipts from imports.
While overall GST inflows grew moderately, the net revenue after refunds rose only marginally by 0.6percent, reaching Rs 1,69,002 crore, as refunds surged during the month.
Of the total gross collections, the Central GST (CGST) contributed Rs 36,547 crore, the State GST (SGST) Rs 45,134 crore, and the Integrated GST (IGST), which includes tax on imports, amounted to Rs 1,06,443 crore.
The cess component, however, saw a significant decline to Rs 7,812 crore from Rs 12,550 crore in October 2024.
The data shows that domestic GST revenue grew by just 2per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,45,052 crore, while GST collected from imports rose sharply by 12.8 per cent to Rs 50,884 crore.
This indicates that import-related activity, rather than domestic consumption, was the key driver of October’s growth.
