India opens airspace for Pakistan on humanitarian grounds

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: India has approved Pakistan's overflight carrying relief material for Sri Lanka, which was affected by Cyclone Ditwah, to pass through its airspace. This approval was granted in just 4 hours.

Overflight means when a foreign aircraft passes over the border of a country but does not land there, it is called an overflight. A statement issued by the government said that Pakistan had requested to fly over Indian airspace on Monday at around 1 PM.

Pakistan had sought overflight permission on December 1 itself. Its purpose was stated to be providing humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka. Considering this, India processed the request very quickly. During this, on Monday at 5:30 PM, permission was granted to the Pakistani aircraft to pass through Indian airspace via official channels. This information was conveyed to the Government of Pakistan.

It is noteworthy that tensions between India and Pakistan had increased after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. Due to this, first Pakistan, and then India, closed their airspace for each other's aircraft.
