LS, RS adjourned till 2 PM amid Oppn protest

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Both Houses of Parliament resumed business on the second day of the winter session of Parliament at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are expected to witness a stormy day, as opposition members are insisting on a debate on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

According to the list of businesses, Report of the Committee on Government Assurances, Reports of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance, Performance review of the National Statistical Commission (Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation) and Review of the working of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and emerging issues (Ministry of Corporate Affairs)will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to move the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025, for consideration and passing in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The bill aims to amend the Central Excise Act in order to raise the excise duties and cess on tobacco products. Earlier on Monday, Finance Minister Sitharaman had tabled the bill in the Lok Sabha. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will move a motion for the election of two members to the rubber board. As per the schedule, the Winter session of Parliament will continue till December 19, 2025.
