PM Modi urges Oppn ‘no Drama, only Delivery’

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday set a tone of productivity, urging both government and opposition members to utilize the winter session for the country's benefit. Delivering his customary address at Hans Dwar on Monday morning, marking the commencement of the Parliament’s Winter Session, the Prime Minister emphasized the strength of India's democratic foundations.

He hailed the high voter turnout in recent elections in Bihar, particularly the participation of women, as a demonstration of the nation's faith in the parliamentary process. "India has proven that democracy can deliver," PM Modi stated, as he addressed media persons. In a pointed appeal to the Opposition, the Prime Minister called for constructive debate and cooperation, cautioning against procedural deadlocks. He asked Opposition members to not be "frazzled by the outcome" of recent electoral results and to focus on legislation.

"Don't do drama in Parliament, but deliver," the Prime Minister appealed, pushing for effective functioning of the House. He also cautioned his own alliance against letting their victory translate into "arrogance." The session, sixth of the Eighteenth Lok Sabha, is anticipated to be intense, with the government planning an aggressive legislative push to accelerate economic reforms. The government's agenda for the 15-day session includes a list of ten crucial bills including the Atomic Energy Bill, 2025, and the Insurance Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

However, the session is expected to face immediate challenges as a united Opposition gears up to corner the government on several contentious issues. The primary demand is for an urgent and comprehensive debate on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Opposition leaders have warned that proceedings may be stalled if this key discussion is not permitted.

Other issues expected to be raised include the internal security in the backdrop of November 10 Red Fort terror blast in Delhi, rising air pollution in the national capital among other issues. The Prime Minister's remarks, setting a tone for legislative focus and smooth functioning, were broadcast live on the official channel of Narendra Modi.
