Delhi HC seeks Centre’s response on JEE Advanced Plea
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the Government of India and other respondents to file a counter affidavit on appeal related to the demand to allow candidates who did not give JEE Advanced in 2021 and 2022, in the year 2023. Delhi HC has sought their response to plea seeking relaxation for students appearing in JEE Advanced this year.
The Delhi HC has asked the Centre to respond to the plea seeking relaxation within two weeks. The Delhi HC has fixed the next date of hearing on March 23. While hearing an urgent petition on "two attempts in two consecutive years" criteria for students who did not appear for JEE (Advanced) twice, or even once in 2021 and 2022, to be allowed to appear for JEE (Advanced) this year in 2023, the court has asked respondents to file counter affidavit.
Many of the Class XII Board pass-out students of the year 2021 approached the Delhi High Court requesting they be allowed to appear in JEE Advanced 2023 as they missed their attempt in 2022 due to a technical glitch and also because of COVID-19 restrictions.
The petition has been filed by 67 students seeking a relaxation in the JEE Advanced criterion of "Two attempts in Two consecutive years" to the students who did not appear in the JEE (Advanced) twice or even once yet in the preceding years 2021 and 2022 be allowed to appear in the JEE (Advanced) 2023. None of the petitioners has availed the two attempts in two consecutive years in the preceding years.
