Kalam SLV Mission on Feb 19
CHENNAI [Maha Media]: The Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Satellite Launch Vehicle Mission-2023 carrying 150 PICO satellites designed and developed by 5,000 Grade 6-12 students from across the country, will take place on February 19. Martin Foundation in association with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation (AKIF) and Space Zone India is all geared up for the mission.
It will be launched using a Sounding Rocket from Pattipulam village in Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu. AKIF was founded by the grandnephews of the late President and eminent scientist Dr Abdul Kalam. More than 5,000 students from Grade VI to XII from different parts of India, have been enabled to design and develop 150 PICO satellites, which will be launched using the sounding rocket.
The mission will take place at Space Zone's facility at suburban Kelambakkam, where the company has the facility to launch sounding rockets.
The countdown for the mission will begin 24 hrs before the Kalam SLV takes off.
The launch window is available from 7.30 AM to 8.30 AM on February 19 and the lift off time will be finalised after taking into account the prevailing weather conditions.
The rocket will take the satellites to an altitude of about 5-6 km and splash down into the sea.
