DU fills 91.98% of UG seats in first admission round
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Over 65,800 candidates have confirmed their undergraduate admission at Delhi University, filling 91.98% of available seats in the first round. The university offers a total of approximately 71,600 undergraduate seats.
A senior university official revealed that out of 83,678 candidates who accepted their allotted seats, 65,483 have confirmed their admission. As of midnight on August 21, 2024, 43,515 candidates opted to upgrade their college or course preference, while 18,478 chose to freeze their admission status.
The allocation acceptance process began on Friday, with 97,387 seats offered in the first round of admission. To ensure optimal seat occupancy, the university made extra allocations, targeting an academic session start on August 29.
DU Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi provided an update, noting: "A total of 65,483 candidates had confirmed their seats by submitting fees." The admissions are being conducted for 71,600 seats across 69 colleges and departments, with 1,559 program-college combinations available.
According to records, 2,45,287 candidates applied for Phase I of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS(UG)), with 1,85,543 applicants submitting their preferences for program-college combinations in Phase II. The university received a total of 1,72,18,187 preferences. This year, DU introduced a feature on candidates' dashboards to view cutoffs and ranks based on category and quota.
