NEET-PG 2025 exam postponed untill further notice

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) on Monday postponed NEET PG 2025 days after the Supreme Court ordered that the exam should be conducted in one shift.

In a statement, the NBEMS said the exam scheduled to be held on June 15 has been postponed to arrange for more test   centres and required infrastructure. The revised date will be notified shortly.

Earlier on Friday, a top court bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath directed the authorities to make arrangements for holding the NEET-PG 2025 exam in one shift and to ensure that complete transparency is maintained and secured centres are identified.

The court said holding the exam in two shifts creates arbitrariness, noting that any two question papers can never be said to be having an identical level of difficulty or ease.

"We are not ready to accept that in the entire country and considering the technological advancement in the country, the examining body could not find enough centres to hold the examination in one shift," the bench, which also comprises Justices Sanjay Kumar and N.V. Anjaria said.

The top court noted that the examination is scheduled for June 15 and there was still more than two weeks for the examining body to identify further centres to hold it in one shift.

A total of 2,42,678 candidates have applied for NEET PG 2025.

The petitioners, who moved the apex court against the NBEMS’s April 16 notification, alleged that holding the examination in two shifts has the potential for unfairness due to varying difficulty levels between shifts, the challenges of a transparent and accurate normalisation process and the increased stress and anxiety for candidates.
