Sensex drops 528.28 points
MUMBAI [Maha Media]: The BSE Sensex on Thursday lost further by 528.28 pts to settle at 77,620.21 on weak global cues. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 162.45 pts at 23,526.50.
The Sensex rose 58 pts in the opening session. It remained as the day's high figure.
Later, it slumped 606 pts at 77,542.92, a day low, before closing at 77,620.21, tumbling down 528.28 pts from its previous close. The Nifty registered days high and low at 23,689.50 and 23,503.05 pts respectively. The stocks that kept the market under pressure were Oil and Gas by 2.19 pc, Energy by 1.89 pc, Industrials by 1.51 pc, and Utilities by 1.43 pc. The Mid-cap eased by 0.96 pc and the Small-cap by 1.17 pc. In 30 scrips, 9 advanced while 21 declined.
The losers were Zomato by 2 pc to Rs 245, Tata Steel by 1.96 pc to Rs 130, NTPC by 1.64 pc to Rs 320, L& T by 1.62 pc to Rs 3538, and Tata Motors by 1.62 pc to Rs 782.
The gainers were Nestle India Ltd by 1.87 pc to Rs 2260.55, Hind Unilever by 1.55 pc to Rs 2436.70, M& M by 1.40 pc to Rs 3128, and Kotak Bank by 1.26 pc to Rs 1791. The Asian market was also seen as weak as Hang Seng fell by 0.20 pc, Taiwan Weighted by 1.41 band Strait Times by 0.63 pc.
