Limits of the opposition

BHOPAL [MAHA MEDIA] The boycott of the president's address by BRS and AAP is unfortunate for this is not in keeping with the traditions of the nation’s parliamentary democracy and is undoubtedly must be read as an insult to the highest office of the nation. Ravi Shankar Prasad has perhaps rightly slammed the opposition for its act of boycott.

The President’s maiden speech before the budget session must have been given a serious listening rather than boycotting and any kind of disagreements in her address may be peacefully brought forward by the opposition.

As such other opposition parties such as Congress have described the address of the president as the manifesto of the BJP and stated that the address was to popularize the Government work stating the government’s actions as fearless etc.

There appears really now a need to curb the kind of the opposition action for the kind of the resentment expressed or boycott initiated by the opposition is a clear evidence of the poor exhibition of the opposition meaning the act is simply to oppose nevertheless absence of a clear reason for the same.

There absolutely seems a need to educate and mind the party functionary’s tin respect of their reported actions and inactions that somehow or other directly indirectly influence the true democratic values. Right to oppose and raise voice against the Government decisions should the same is considered and placed systematically with proper reasoning over the mere opposition slogans are certainly welcome and are in the interest of the democratic values yet basic objectives needs to be carefully examined and mentioned with clarity and within the purview of the constitutional limits.

The quality of parliamentary discussions in the interest of the nation and decency of the public protest too need a balanced attitude by all the parties irrespective of the party in power or in opposition it’s a joint responsibility of all the elected representatives to feature themselves decently before the public notwithstanding the differences of opinions as the differences can be mutually resolved with the peaceful discussions
