MP: Heatwave grips 30 districts

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]:  Madhya Pradesh is reeling under intense heat. On Tuesday, temperatures in Guna, Ratlam, and Narmadapuram crossed 43°C. Heatwave conditions were reported in many regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for 30 districts, including Jabalpur and Gwalior, for Wednesday.

An orange alert for heatwave has been issued for Ashoknagar, Guna, Ratlam, Mandsaur, and Neemuch. Yellow alert is in place for Gwalior, Shivpuri, Morena, Bhind, Sheopur, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Panna, Satna, Sagar, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, and Ujjain, among others.

On Tuesday, Guna recorded the highest temperature at 43.4°C. Ratlam and Narmadapuram followed closely with 43.2°C. Major cities too felt the heat – Bhopal touched 41.2°C, Indore 41.1°C, Gwalior 41.9°C, Ujjain 42.5°C, and Jabalpur 41.4°C. Interestingly, light rain was recorded in Chhindwara, Betul, Dindori, and Pandhurna, showcasing mixed weather patterns.

According to IMD Bhopal, a trough and cyclonic circulation from western Rajasthan to Vidarbha is influencing the region. A western disturbance may change the weather from April 11–12, bringing clouds and light rain to Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.


April Forecast
First Week: Max temps in western MP ranged between 39–44°C. Nights stayed 2–3°C above normal.

Second Week: Nights may remain warm (23–26°C). Eastern winds may offer slight relief in Bhopal and Jabalpur. Max temps in some regions could reach 43°C.

Third Week: Max temps may rise to 42–44°C statewide. Night temps to hover around 25–27°C. Possibility of light rain.

Fourth Week: Nights will get hotter, reaching up to 30°C. Max temps may touch 45°C in Gwalior and Rewa regions.

The IMD predicts 15–20 days of heatwave in MP till May. April and May are expected to be the hottest months this year.
