PM Modi's Kanpur visit on Thursday cancelled

KANPUR [Maha Media]:  After the incident of terrorist attack in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir in which 26 tourists were killed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed programme in Kanpur on April 24 has been cancelled.

The PM was scheduled to come here on Thursday to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth more than Rs 20,000 crore.

Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana confirmed the cancellation of PM Modi's visit and said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit tomorrow has been cancelled. He will not come tomorrow."

Mahana had come to express condolences at the house of Shubham Dwivedi of Kanpur, who was killed in the Pahalgam attack. He met Shubham's family and consoled them.

The Assembly Speaker condemned the cowardly attack and said that anti-national elements, shaken by the determination of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to establish peace in the Kashmir Valley, have carried out this cowardly act.

The Speaker said that this attack will definitely be answered and the culprits will be brought to justice. "The whole country is saddened by the Pahalgam incident. I have personal relations with Shubham Dwivedi's family and is very sad. The whole country has faith in the Indian Army, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister," he said.
