Ashwin returns home after announcing retirement
CHENNAI [Maha Media]: A day after announcing his retirement from the International cricket, ace Indian off spinner R.Ashwin returned home on Thursday from Australia.
He arrived at the airport in the morning and was escorted to his residence where he received a huge welcome as well. Fans and media were present at the airport but Ashwin requested privacy while not clicking selfies with fans as well. After reaching his residence, Ashwin's family members were waiting for him as the cricketer was welcomed in a traditional way. The 38-year-old also looked pleased after meeting his family.
The great all rounder took the cricket world by surprise during the final of the third cricket test against Australia at Brisbane on Wednesday announcing that he was retiring from International cricket.
Upon his arrival at the airport here, Ashwin did not talk to the waiting reporters, but said he would meet the media a few days later and explain on his decision to quit International cricket.
While questioning the timing of his decision to quit midway through a series, several former and present cricketers hailed his contributions to Team India as a key all rounder and a match winner with his extraordinary bowling and rescuing the team with his batting skills when it mattered most, a point acknowledged by present Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma.
