Sensex ends 598 points higher, Nifty above 24450
MUMBAI [Maha Media]: Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty rallied for the third straight session on Tuesday amid buying in blue-chip stocks like HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries and firm trends in global markets.
The BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 597.67 points or 0.74 per cent to settle at 80,845.75. During the day, it surged 701.02 points or 0.87 per cent to 80,949.10.
The NSE Nifty went up by 181.10 points or 0.75 per cent to 24,457.15.
Top Nifty gainers included Adani Ports, NTPC, Adani Enterprises, Axis Bank and SBI, while losers were Bharti Airtel, ITC, Hero MotoCorp, HDFC Life, and Sun Pharma.
Indian rupee ended flat at 84.69 per dollar on Tuesday versus Monday’s close of 84.70.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 445.29 points higher at 80,248.08, whereas Nifty concluded 144.95 points up at 24,276.05.
