MP: Cold wave grips parts of state

BHOPAL  [Maha Media]:  Part of State continued to shiver under the grip of a cold wave. Temperatures plummeted significantly below normal in districts of Ujjain, Rewa, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Sagar. Expected weather of Bhopal will hover at maximum of 22°C and minimum of 8 °C and winds velocity will remain at around 5 km/h. According to IMD, dense fog enveloped several districts, including Bhind, Morena, and Gwalior, leading to reduced visibility was recorded on Tuesday. 

While most of the regions in the State experienced shallow to moderate fog. Ratlam, East Mandsaur, Agar, Rajgarh, Ujjian, Shajapur, South Khandwa, South Khargone, North Burhanpur, Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, South Satna, Maihar, South Chhatarpur, South Panna, Tikamgarh, Sagar, Damoh, North Indore and North Narsinghpur.  Mandla recorded the highest maximum temperature at 29.5°C, while Pachmarhi (Narmadapuram) experienced the lowest minimum temperature at 7.0°C. Nowgong (Chhatarpur) noted maximum of 19.8 and minimum of 7.5 and Gwalior noted maximum of 18.8 and minimum of 9.7.

These were impacted by the cold wave.

Rewa Airport recorded a concerning minimum visibility of 50 meters. IMD states that a trough in the upper atmosphere, a cyclonic circulation over west Uttar Pradesh, and a strong jet stream are currently influencing weather patterns across the region. 

A fresh western disturbance is expected to impact northwest India from January 10.
