India, Nepal conduct joint border patrol amid terror threats
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: India and Nepal carried out a joint border patrol operation on Friday following intelligence inputs about suspected terrorists possibly operating in Nepal. The operation took place in the dense forested no-man’s land along their shared 1,700 km-long international border.
The joint search involved India’s Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF), working closely to identify and neutralize potential threats. SSB Commandant Ganga Singh told India Today, “Nepali soldiers are with us in the fight against terrorism. We have excellent coordination, with monthly meetings to share intelligence and track suspects.”
Singh highlighted the presence of an Islamic organisation’s centre in Nepalgunj, which Pakistani nationals reportedly visit for special functions. “If anything, suspicious occurs, these people inform us,” he added.
SSB forces have maintained vigilant surveillance from watch towers along the Nepal border and are prepared to respond swiftly with INSAS rifles if needed.
