Prez Murmu attends Navy Day celebrations in Odisha
ODISHA [Maha Media]: President Droupadi Murmu attends the Navy Day celebrations as Chief Guest and witnesses an operational demonstration at the Blue Flag Beach in Puri, Odisha on Wednesday. It will showcase over 15 ships, submarines and more than 40 aircraft, with support from the Marine Commandos and personnel from the Indian Army.
Aiming to highlight the Navy’s capabilities and its dedication to protecting India’s maritime interests, the event will demonstrate aerial manoeuvres by MiG-29K and Hawk fighter jets, combat exercises by MARCOS, submarine operations, amphibious landings, and rocket firing from warships.
Navy Day is being celebrated today. The day is celebrated on the 4th of December every year to recognize the achievements and role of the Indian Navy. It was on this day in 1971, during Operation Trident, the Indian Navy sank four Pakistani vessels including PNS Khaibar, killing hundreds of Pakistani Navy personnel.
