
Sensex drops by 1047.52 points during the week
MUMBAI [Maha Media]: Snapping a winning streak of last three week, the BSE Sensex crashed 1,047.52 points or 1.30 percent to settle at 79,454.47 in a week ended Friday driven by escalating India-Pakistan tensions following drone and missile attacks by Pakistani forces
Nifty too tanked 338.7 points or 1.39 percent to settle at 24,008.
The equity market remained volatile during the week, as on
Monday the Sensex rallied 294.85 points to 80,796.84 and the Nifty rose 114.45 points to 24,461.15.
Erasing gains, the Sensex on Tuesday fell by 155.77 points to close at 80,641.07, and the Nifty slips by 81.55 points to close at 24,379.60.
On Wednesday, it was recovered 105.71 points to close at 80,746.78 while the Nifty added 34.80 points to close at 24,414.40.
Again on Thursday, it was nosedived 411.97 points to 80,334.81 and the Nifty fell 140.60 points to 24,273.80.
On Friday, it was tumbled down further 880.34 points to settle at 79,454.47 and the Nifty index fell 265.80 points to 24,008.
During the week, the BSE Mid-Cap slipped 1.39 percent to close at 42,111.50. BSE Small-Cap index tumbled 1.31 pecent to end at 46,741.95.
Stock that fell during the week were Bank of Baroda by 11.40 percent Asian Paints by 4.41 percent , Dabur India by 3.65 percent , Kotak Mahindra Bank by 3.43 percent, State Bank of India (SBI) by 2.58 percent,Godrej Consumer Products by 0.96 percent
While, stock that rose during the week were Zee Entertainment Enterprises by 9.03 percent. Titan Company by 5.13 precent, Larsen & Toubro by 3.49 percent, Marico by 3.37 percent MRF by 2.49 percent ,Britannia Industries by 2.37 percent, Mahindra & Mahindra by 1.78 percent, Coal India by 0.45 percent.
