DIGHA [Maha Media]: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday inaugurated the newly built Jagannath Temple in the sea resort town of Digha on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Trithiya.
Banerjee thanked the workers and engineers who built the structure in three years.
“I would like to thank all those who have come here for the inaugural programme. People from all religions have come here," she said.
The architectural works in the temple are very well crafted. People from every religion have come here. After that, temple will be opened to the general public. People from every religion can visit the temple.
It has been modelled after the Shri Jagannath Temple with the Kalinga style of temple architecture. It has been built using pink sandstone from Rajasthan. Over 800 artists from Rajasthan contributed in building the temple.
Bhoga Mandap, Nata mandap, Jagamohan and Garbhagriha have been constructed similar to the 12th century Jagannath Temple in Puri. The Temple will be inaugurated today. However, one thing that differs from the Jagannath Temple is that non-Hindus and foreigners can also visit the temple.
