MP: Expect rain, hailstorms for next 4 days

BHOPAL [Maha Media]: Madhya Pradesh is forecast to experience rain, hailstorms, strong winds, and even heatwave conditions, all together for the next four days, in many areas.

The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for different districts.

On Monday, hail is expected in 11 districts including Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Balaghat, Jabalpur, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria, and Katni. Light rain and thunderstorms are likely in Singrauli, Sagar, Narmadapuram, Betul, and Dewas. Meanwhile, Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain will mostly see dry heat with cloud cover.

According to IMD Bhoapl’s weather expert, this sudden change is due to an active Western Disturbance and a Cyclonic Circulation. This will cause occasional rain across the state for the next few days, while heat will still persist.

The rain and stormy weather will continue on April 29, 30, and May 1. However, intense heat will also be felt, especially during the day. In the Gwalior-Chambal region, strong heat during the daytime and rain at night are expected.

As north-western winds gain strength, the minimum temperature across Madhya Pradesh is expected to stay 3 to 4 degrees higher than normal, around 27 - 30°C. Days and nights will both remain hot. Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar, and Rewa divisions may see maximum temperatures between 43 - 45°C, while other regions like Indore, Bhopal, and Ujjain will experience temperatures between 41- 44°C.

A heatwave is likely to affect the state for 3 - 4 days at the end of April due to a cyclonic system near Bengal.

On Sunday, some districts like Chhindwara, Damoh, Jabalpur, Mandla, and Sagar received rain. Bhopal saw light showers in the evening, but the western parts of the state remained hot. In Chhatarpur's Nowgaon, temperatures dropped by 10 degrees—from 43°C to 33°C in just one day. Other areas like Chhindwara, Khajuraho, Sidhi, and Seoni also recorded significant temperature drops.
