MP to have 10 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: The Madhya Pradesh government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0, a mission aimed at providing affordable housing to all eligible urban poor and homeless families. The mission will be implemented over a period of five years, until 2029.
Official sources said the programme aims at constructing 10 lakh new houses in the state, as part of the Centre's target to build one crore houses across the country. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 1.0 has already seen the completion of 8.5 lakh houses in the state, with an expenditure of Rs 22,975 crore.
The Urban Development and Housing Department has been directed to achieve the targets set under PMAY-U-2.0 within the stipulated timeframe. Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries will be provided assistance through four key components. The application process has been made simple and transparent, and beneficiaries can apply online through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs' unified web portal.
PMAY-U-2.0 prioritises the housing needs of various marginalised sections, including sanitation workers, street vendors, artisans, Anganwadi workers, construction workers, and slum dwellers, among others.
