MP: Rain & wind alert issued for 27 districts
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: Madhya Pradesh is likely to see more pre-monsoon rain and storms on Thursday.
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for 27 districts including Gwalior and Ratlam. On Wednesday, several areas like Bhopal, Ujjain, Shajapur, Chhindwara, Rajgarh, Sagar, Satna, Dhar, and Damoh received rainfall. Damoh alone recorded over an inch of rain.
The alert continues until June 8 due to active weather systems. Temperatures may rise slightly, and humidity will increase too. The monsoon is expected to enter Madhya Pradesh between June 7 and June 10.
In the past 10 years, it has been observed that just before the monsoon, the state usually faces extreme heat, especially in Gwalior-Chambal and parts of Bhopal and Indore. However, this year the temperature remains under control and nights are expected to get cooler by 8 to 10 degrees Celsius.
June 5: Rain and storm expected in 27 districts including Gwalior, Tikamgarh, Katni, Betul, and Ratlam with wind speeds of 40–50 km/h.
June 6: Alert in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Chhindwara, Guna, Rewa, and more with wind speeds up to 40 km/h.
June 7: Heavy rain and storm expected in Indore, Ujjain, Rajgarh, Sehore, and other parts.
June 8: Rain likely in Khandwa, Harda, Sehore, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhindwara, and nearby districts.
Residents are advised to stay alert and take precautions during stormy weather.
Usually, early June brings high temperatures above 40°C in cities like Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Ujjain. But this year, the temperatures have remained lower, and many areas are experiencing regular rain and storms. A storm alert has been issued for the next four days.
According to the IMD, strong winds up to 50 km/h with rain are expected on June 5 in districts like Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Sagar, Katni, Mandla, and others.
