Aaron Finch announces retirement from International Cricket

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Australia's T20 World Cup-winning captain Aaron Finch has announced his retirement from the  T20Is, this brings an end to his international cricket career for Australia spanning 12 years. Earlier, the opening batsman had announced retirement from the 50-over format in September last year. Finch also played five Test matches for Australia.

Finch told the reporters that it's important for the new captain and opener to give ample time for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The ICC tournament is scheduled to take place in June in West Indies and USA. He thanked his family, his team-mates, Cricket Victoria, Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers' Association for their support to allow him to play the game he loves at the highest level. He also thanked all the fans who supported him throughout his international career.

Finch made his international cricket debut in a T20I against England in 2011. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2013.
