Gill likely to miss 2nd warm-up Test

NEW DELHI (Maha Media): India's preparations for the highly anticipated five-Test series against England have seen an early shake-up, as newly appointed Test captain Shubman Gill is likely to miss the second warm-up match in Northampton on June 6. Gill, who is currently leading Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, may need extra rest following a packed schedule, especially if his team reaches the IPL final on June 3.

Meanwhile, in a surprising turn of events, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reinstated T Dilip as the fielding coach for the England tour, just a month after relieving him during a coaching reshuffle. Dilip’s return comes after the BCCI failed to find a suitable foreign replacement, prompting a one-year extension.

With the 46-day tour fast approaching, the Indian team will be travelling under the leadership of coach Gautam Gambhir, accompanied by a refreshed support staff that includes Dilip, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, bowling coach Morne Morkel, and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, who will also be working with India A ahead of the main series starting June 20 at Leeds.
