Nepal claims 3 Indian territories as its own

Nepal claims 3 Indian territories as its own

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Nepal has escalated its border dispute with India by issuing a new Rs ‎100 note featuring a revised map that marks Lipulekh, Kalapani, and Limpiyadhura as part of Nepal. All three areas are within Indian territory.

India has strongly condemned the move, calling it a unilateral action that ignores historical facts.

The Ministry of External Affairs said such claims do not change the truth and urged Nepal to respect India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting that these claims violate bilateral agreements.

The disputed map, printed in light green at the centre, is exclusive to the Rs 100 note and does not appear on Rs 10, Rs 50, Rs 500, or Rs 1000 denominations.

The note also features Mount Everest, a watermark of Nepal’s national flower Gurrans, the Ashoka pillar of Lumbini, and a horned rhinoceros on the reverse. The issue date reads 2081 BS (2024 AD).
