Sensex ends 487 pts higher
MUMBAI [Maha Media]: Indian equity markets saw volatile trade on Thursday but closed on a high. Sensex ended 487.20 pts or 0.60% higher at 82,344.68, and Nifty 50 soared 167.35 pts or 0.66% to close at 25,342.75.
Investor sentiment was buoyed by the India–EU free trade agreement, viewed as a medium-term positive for export-oriented sectors and supply-chain diversification.
Technically, analysts note that short-covering from oversold levels could lift benchmark indices in early trade, especially in derivatives-heavy counters.
