MP: Holi celebration begins on March 13 at Mahakal temple
UJJAIN [Maha Media]: Holi festival will be celebrated with much and fervour at famous Mahakal temple in Ujjain.
After the evening aarti of Lord Mahakal', Holika Dehan' has been scheduled in Pradoshkal on March 13. Priests will apply herbal gulal to the Shivlinga in the Bhasma Aarti on March 14, to commence the festival.
Holi has a special significance in Mahakaleshwar. Hundreds of devotees from all over the country visit the temple on the occasion.
Like every year, this time, too, Holi will be celebrated with traditional gaiety on March 13-14.
After the evening aarti of Lord Mahakal at 7.30 pm, the priest will worship Holika with Vedic chanting, which will be followed by 'dehen' (Holika burning). After that Holika will be burnt.
Next day on March 14, herbal gulal in a very limited quantity will be applied to the Jyotirlinga as per the instructions of the Supreme Court committee to avoid the erosion of the Shivlinga.
According to Hindu scriptures, Holika should be worshipped during Pradosh Kaal. Therefore, it is best to worship Holika during Pradosh Kaal on March 13 in auspicious yoga and nakshatra. There will be 'Patal Vasani Bhadra' on March 13 for some time, therefore it is advised to perform Holika Dehen after 11.30 pm.
