Bomb threat at 4 locations in Mumbai

MUMBAI [Maha Media]: A bomb threat to blow up the Vidhan Bhavan created panic on Thursday morning while the budget session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly was underway. The warning briefly caused chaos inside the legislative complex, with employees gathering at the entrance as security procedures were activated.

Following the threat, the police immediately launched a search operation across the Vidhan Bhavan premises. Security at the complex was placed on high alert after authorities reportedly received a threatening email regarding the incident. As the budget session was in progress, several ministers and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) were present in the Vidhan Bhavan area. In response, authorities intensified vigilance and began evacuating staff and officials from the building while conducting a thorough search of the entire complex.

Legislative Council Chairman Ram Shinde informed that a bomb threat was sent to four places in Mumbai including Vidhan Bhavan through an email at 6:57 am. These four places include Vidhan Bhavan, Mumbai Stock Exchange, Mumbai Metro, Mumbai High Court. Interestingly, the time of the explosion has also been given in the email. Due to this, the investigation agencies have become more alert, Ram Shinde informed while talking to the media.

After the incident, the Mumbai Police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Team began a detailed inspection of the entire Vidhan Bhavan area.

Because the budget session was underway, a large number of ministers, MLAs and political leaders were present within the complex at the time. Given the sensitive nature of the situation, the administration immediately went on high alert and instructed members of the public to leave the area.

Security agencies are also examining the threat in the context of ongoing international tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States. In light of the broader security concerns, authorities have intensified their investigation and expanded the search operation throughout the Vidhan Bhavan premises.
