EC likely to extend SIR deadline for some states

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Except for Kerala, today is the last date for submitting forms for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list being carried out in 11 states and Union Territories. Election Commission officials will review the progress of form digitisation and submission on Thursday.

During this meeting, the deadline for SIR may be extended for Uttar Pradesh as well as other states. NDTV has reported this information citing Election Commission sources. According to sources, West Bengal is also among the states where the deadline may be extended. Earlier, the Commission had extended Kerala's last date from 11 December to 18 December.

The Election Commission extended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) deadline by one week on 30 November. The Commission announced that the final voter list will now be published on 14 February 2026.

The enumeration period for adding or removing voters, that is, voter verification, will now continue until 11 December, instead of the earlier deadline of 4 December. The first draft voter list, which was originally scheduled for release on 9 December, will now be published on 16 December.
