IMD issues rain alert nationwide

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: The Meteorological Department has issued a rain warning for 28 states across the country today. A yellow alert has been issued for rain in 27 states including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, while Uttarakhand, Gujarat, central Maharashtra, and Kerala are under an orange alert for heavy rainfall.

In Rajasthan, 29 districts are on yellow alert. On Friday, over 25 districts including Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Sikar, and Alwar witnessed heavy rainfall. Lightning strikes killed a young man and a woman in Bundi, a child in Sirohi, and a young man in Dungarpur.

A strong weather system is active in Madhya Pradesh. On Friday, rain lashed 21 districts, including the capital Bhopal. A heavy rain alert is also in place for 12 districts on Saturday. The impact will be most severe in the Rewa, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions, where up to 4.5 inches of rainfall is expected in the next 24 hours.

Heavy rain continues in Maharashtra. High tides are being observed in the Mumbai sea, damaging roads along the coast. Due to the monsoon, the main area of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in Chandrapur will be closed to tourists for three months starting July 1.

In the northeast, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, and southern Assam have witnessed landslides at multiple locations along railway lines due to heavy rainfall. As a result, train services remained disrupted for the fifth consecutive day on Friday. Meanwhile, in Kerala’s Idukki district, the water level in the Mullaperiyar Dam continues to rise and has reached 135.35 feet, nearing the danger mark of 136 feet.
