MP: Heavy rain alert in 23 districts
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for 23 districts of Madhya Pradesh, including Jabalpur and Ratlam, on Wednesday. While Bhopal has been witnessing intermittent showers since morning, light rainfall is expected in Indore, Ujjain, and Gwalior.
In Narmadapuram, five out of 13 gates of the Tawa Dam have been opened by five feet each to regulate water levels. According to Ankit Saraf, Executive Engineer of the Tawa Project Division, Itarsi, around 43,010 cusecs of water is being released into the Tawa River. This is the second time this season that the dam gates have had to be opened.
The IMD has attributed the current weather pattern to the combined effect of the monsoon trough, a depression, and cyclonic circulation activity. As a result, similar conditions are expected to prevail across Madhya Pradesh for the next four days, with heavy rainfall in some areas and light showers in others.
A yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for the following districts: Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Barwani, Khargone, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Harda, Sehore, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Jabalpur, Seoni, Dindori, Mandla, and Balaghat
