PM Modi says talented youth in Congress stifled by ‘family insecurity’
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday told NDA leaders that several young leaders in the opposition, particularly the Congress, were talented but did not get an opportunity to speak due to “family insecurity,” reported India Today.
According to sources, the Prime Minister remarked that the presence of such youth leaders may be making Rahul Gandhi feel “insecure and nervous.” The interaction, held over tea, was limited to ruling alliance members. No opposition leaders were present.
PM Modi described the recently concluded Parliament session as “productive.” He noted that the passage of key legislations, including the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, he termed the Online Gaming Bill a reform with “far-reaching impact” that merited wider discussion.
The Prime Minister criticised opposition parties for staying away from debates on major legislations. “They only remained engaged in creating disruptions,” he was quoted as saying.
The Parliament cleared the Online Gaming Bill, which introduces strict regulations and penalties for money-based online gaming companies, their promoters and individuals found in violation, on August 20. The legislation seeks to prohibit money-based online games and provides for stringent punishments.
Meanwhile, the All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking urgent intervention, warning that a blanket prohibition could severely damage the sector.
The Prime Minister also censured opposition members for tearing up copies of three contentious bills introduced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which propose the removal of the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers arrested on serious charges for 30 days.
