Unruly behaviour in assembly needs to stop: Raj Thackeray
MUMBAI [Maha Media]: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray today strongly condemned the violent altercation that took place in the state legislature.
Thackeray also warned that if such incidents are not curbed immediately, they could escalate to the point where even the murder of legislators take place.
A fierce clash erupted between the supporters of NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MLA Jitendra Awhad and BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar within the premises of the state legislature last evening.
Raj Thackeray criticized the current state of politics, stating that those in power have forgotten that governance is a means to serve the people— and not the ultimate goal in itself.
He accused ruling parties of indiscriminately allowing anyone to join their ranks, only to use them to attack senior opposition leaders verbally. "On one hand, they preach ethics, but on the other, their actions are filled with hypocrisy," he said.
Thackeray further lashed out at critics, questioning their silence. "When my Maharashtra Sainiks raised their hands to defend the Marathi language and the pride of Marathi people, our party was harshly attacked. But now, where are those critics hiding?" he asked.
He stated that his party workers have never acted out of personal grudges but have always stood for the cause of Marathi identity.
Challenging the ruling parties, Thackeray said, "If you have even a shred of ethics left, take action against your own workers who created chaos in the Assembly. And if you can’t, then don’t come preaching to us when my Maharashtra Sainiks take a stand against those who insult the Marathi language."
