US, Iran move closer to peace agreement
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: US and Iran are getting closer to a peace agreement before the ceasefire ends on April 21. According to US media, talks between the two sides have progressed, although some differences still remain.
Meanwhile, there will be an important meeting between Iranian officials and Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir in Tehran. Munir has already arrived in Iran to meet Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey are playing the role of mediators. On the other hand, US Vice President JD Vance, along with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, is negotiating and sharing draft proposals.
In a statement on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump announced that the meeting between officials of Iran and Lebanon will happen tomorrow. He said, “Trying to get a little breathing room between Israel and Lebanon.”
He further mentioned, "It has been a long time since the two leaders have spoken, like 34 years. It will happen tomorrow.”
A resolution aimed at limiting President Donald Trump's ability to wage war in Iran had failed in the US Senate on Thursday. This is the fourth time such a move has failed amongst the country's lawmakers.
In a statement quoted by a BBC report, the Democratic Party of the US said that it will introduce similar measures every week, even if they did not pass.
Earlier, Iran had threatened to close 3 important sea routes associated with the world's oil supply. It had been said that if the US continues the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and its ports, it will completely stop maritime trade in the Red Sea, the Sea of Oman, and the Persian Gulf.
