Zelenskyy nominates Yulia Svyrydenko as new Ukraine PM
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has recommended Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development Yulia Svyrydenko as the country’s next Prime Minister. Svyrydenko is considered a close ally of Zelenskyy.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Zelenskyy announced his intention to nominate Svyrydenko to replace Denis Shmyhal, who has held the position since 2020. He emphasised the need for renewal within the government.
Svyrydenko played a key role in overseeing a deal between Ukraine and the Trump administration involving natural resources in exchange for military cooperation.
Her appointment requires parliamentary approval. Zelenskyy’s party, Servant of the People, has held a strong majority with 254 seats since 2019. While the nomination is expected to be discussed in parliament today, the exact date for the vote has yet to be announced.
