Passenger vehicle sales rose to 25.4pc in April: SIAM

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Passenger Vehicle (PV) sales rose 25.4 per cent year-over-year (Y-oY) to 4,37,312, said Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Thursday.

The automobile industry body said that total production of passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and quadricycles in April was 29,22,427 units.

Total three-wheeler and two-wheeler sales also surged by 32.8 and 28.4pc Y-o-Y, respectively.

Rajesh Menon, Director General of SIAM, said, "Continuing with the momentum of the second half of FY2025-26, the first month of FY2026-27 posted high double-digit growth in Passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, and two-wheelers."

Menon noted that in April, the Passenger vehicles recorded the highest ever sales of 4.37 lakh units with a growth of 25.4pc over April 2025.

"Three-wheelers also posted their highest ever sales of 0.66 lakh units, registering a growth of 32.8pc compared to April 2025."

"A total 18.73 lakh units of two-wheelers were sold in April 2026, resulting in a growth of 28.4pc compared to April of the previous year."

Menon warned of the concerns of high commodity prices emanating from the disruptions in West Asia.
