
Bihar Polls: JDU releases second list of 44 candidates
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD(U) on Thursday announced its second list of 44 candidates for the assembly polls, with several ministers like Sheila Mandal, Vijendra Prasad Yadav, Leshi Singh, Jayant Raj and Mohd Zama Khan featuring among the nominees.
The party also fielded turncoats Chetan Anand from Nabinagar and Vibha Devi from Nawad. Both were earlier associated with the RJD.
Besides, the JD(U) nominated Kaladhar Mandal from the Rupauli seat.
This time, the JDU has fielded Muslim candidates as per the second list. These are: Saba Zafar from Amour, Manzar Alam from Jokihat, Shagufta Azim from Araria, and Mohd Zama Khan from Chainpur.
Besides, these 9 women have also been given the tickets in JDU's second list.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the party had announced 57 candidates, including three strongmen, among them Anant Singh.
Meanwhile, four sitting MLAs have been dropped, including Gopal Mandal from Gopalpur. The party has given the symbol for this seat to former JDU MP Bulo Mandal, who joined JDU from RJD after being denied a ticket in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Gopal Mandal has expressed his displeasure over being denied a ticket and has threatened that the party will face decline. He also declared that he will now contest as an independent candidate.
On Wednesday, Rashtriya Lok Janata Party (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha announced his party’s candidates. The most prominent name on the list is his wife Snehlata Kushwaha, who will contest from the Sasaram seat.
Other candidates include Alok Kumar Singh from Dinara, Prashant Kumar Pankaj from Ujiarpur, and Madhav Anand from Madhubani. Candidates for the Paroo and Bajpatti seats have not yet been announced.
