Budget debate to resume in Rajya Sabha today

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Both Houses of Parliament are scheduled to hold a general discussion on the Union Budget 2026–27 on Tuesday.

The Upper House will resume its discussion on the Budget, while the Lower House is likely to begin the debate after earlier proceedings were disrupted due to a stalemate between the opposition and the ruling parties.

According to the List of Business, in the Lok Sabha, MPs Azad Kirti Jha and Robert Bruce C will present reports of the Standing Committee on Chemicals and Fertilisers. Minister of State Jitin Prasada will make a statement on the status of implementation of recommendations contained in the 188th report of the Standing Committee on Commerce on a comprehensive strategy to map major products and countries to maximise exports and minimise imports.

In the Rajya Sabha, members Rwngwra Narzary and Naresh Bansal will lay on the table reports of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Chemicals and Fertilisers for 2025–26.

Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi is also scheduled to make a statement on the status of implementation of observations and recommendations of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas. The statement relates to action taken by the government on the committee’s earlier report on the review of policy on the import of crude oil.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her ninth consecutive Union Budget on February 1.
