CM Nitish inaugurates 1st phase of Patna Metro Rail Service
PATNA [Maha Media]: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a section of the Patna Metro on Monday, hours ahead of the announcement of the assembly elections in the state.
A 3.45-km-long elevated corridor, covering three stations -- Patliputra Bus Terminal, Zero Mile, and Bhoothnath, was opened as part of the "priority corridor".
Kumar also laid the foundation stones for six underground metro stations, including Patna Junction, and a 9.35-km-long tunnel connecting them, as part of corridor 1.
Metro rides for passengers will begin from tomorrow. The state paramilitary police, Bihar State Auxiliary Police (B-SAP) has been entrusted with the metro’s security. Each train, consisting of three coaches, can accommodate around 900 passengers per trip. On the priority corridor red line, passengers will have to pay 15 rupees for a short journey between two stations, and a maximum fare of 30 rupees for travelling across all stations. The metro coaches have been designed attractively with Madhubani paintings featuring illustrations of Bihar’s historical landmarks such as Golghar, Mahabodhi Temple, Buddha Smriti Park, and Nalanda Mahavihara.
