MP CM Yadav slams Congress over Women’s Reservation Bill
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: A large-scale 'Jan Aakrosh Mahila Padyatra' began in Bhopal on Monday, with Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal, ministers, MPs, and women party leaders marching from MVM College Ground towards Roshanpura Square.
The rally was organised by the BJP in protest against the failure to pass the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill related to women’s reservation in Parliament.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that a woman may forget everything but never forgets her insult.
He alleged that women had come to the streets of Bhopal to protest against what he called an attack on their rights in Parliament.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement, he said that even if the party does not have a two-thirds majority, it has the willpower to bring change. He further accused the Congress and its allies of celebrating the bill’s failure in Parliament.
CM Yadav also launched a strong attack on Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of hypocrisy on women’s empowerment.
He claimed that while opposition leaders make public statements supporting women, they fail to protect women’s rights in practice.
He also referred to past decisions, including the implementation of triple talaq, blaming previous Congress governments for undermining women’s rights.
He announced that a special session of the state assembly would be called to pass a condemnation motion over the issue.
BJP Mahila Morcha state president Ashwini Paranjape said the Congress’s actions in Parliament were an insult to women.
She said the party had celebrated the bill’s defeat, which she described as a symbol of disrespect toward women.
She added that women would respond strongly, saying, “Now it is no longer a plea, it is a battle—life or death.”
Several senior leaders participated in the march, including Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal, ministers Krishna Gaur, Nirmala Bhuria, Radha Singh, Pratima Bagri, MPs Kavita Patidar, Suman Valmiki, Maya Narolia, and Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai, among others.
