
Flood fury in UP, 24 districts affected
LUCKNOW [Maha Media]: Heavy rain continues on Friday in 10 cities of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow. Lucknow has seen continuous rainfall for the 7th consecutive day. Schools are closed up to 12th grade in Varanasi and Bijnor, and up to 8th grade in Lucknow and Jaunpur. A total of 1,245 villages in 24 districts of the state are affected by floods. So far, 360 houses have collapsed.
In Himachal Pradesh, more than 450 roads are closed, including National Highways 305 and 5. Since June 20 to August 7, 2025, 202 people have died due to rain-related incidents in the state. In Jharkhand, the death toll is 431.
In Munger, Bihar, the water level of the Ganga river is above the danger mark. After water rose to 6 feet inside the Chandika Sthan temple, it was closed. Due to flooding in Begusarai, 118 schools remain closed until further notice. In Khagaria, 32 schools and in Vaishali, 80 schools are also closed.
In Madhya Pradesh, there has been no rain for the past 7 days, causing the daytime and nighttime temperatures to rise. The daytime temperature reached up to 34ºC. There is no alert for heavy rainfall anywhere today. The state has received 28.7 inches of rainfall so far, which is 77 percent of the total expected rainfall.
