Tigress found dead in Bhadra Tiger Reserve
CHIKKAMAGALURU [Maha Media]: A tigress, aged around seven years, was found dead in the Lakkavalli Range of the Bhadra Wildlife Division in Chikkamagaluru district on Thursday.
Forest staff discovered the carcass during a routine patrol. Preliminary findings suggest the tigress succumbed to injuries sustained in a territorial fight, as reported by Deccan Herald.
A post mortem was conducted, and samples from the body were collected for further examination. The carcass was examined with metal detectors to check if it had suffered bullet injuries.
The carcass was disposed of by burning, in line with official protocols, and in the presence of Assistant Conservator of Forests Santosh Sagar, wildlife activists G. Veeresh and Madhu Mugathihalli, and local panchayat representatives.
