Gadkari inaugurates MP’s longest flyover in Jabalpur
JABALPUR [Maha Media]: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inagurated the longest flyover bridge in Madhya Pradesh, located in Jabalpur. This seven-kilometer flyover is named after Veerangana Rani Durgavati. During the event, they also laid the foundation for nine road projects totaling 174 kilometers, which will cost over 4,250 crores.
Gadkari mentioned that when Congress was in power in Madhya Pradesh and Kamal Nath was the Chief Minister, he requested Nath to send a proposal to the Central Road Fund (CRF). He promised to provide double the funding for the National Highway. Nath sent the proposal, leading to the construction of the flyover for public use. This was the first time funding was approved from the CREF for such a project in the country.
Gadkari quoted John F. Kennedy, saying that America's roads are good because America is rich, and America is rich because of its good roads.
With this new flyover, the travel time from Madanmahal to Damoh Naka is reduced to just seven minutes, compared to the previous 45 minutes.
In 2019, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari performed the 'Bhumi Pujan' ceremony of this flyover bridge. The central government had decided to construct it from the Central Reserve Fund (CRF).
At that time its cost was Rs 800 crore which increased to about Rs 1100 crore. What's special is that this was the first time such a large amount was allocated from the Central Reserve Fund for a flyover.
