MP Mining Conclave 2.0 in Katni today
KATNI [Maha Media]: Madhya Pradesh is set to host the much-anticipated ‘Mining Conclave 2.0’ on August 23 in Katni, with Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav attending as the chief guest. The conclave will bring together over 2,000 participants from across the country, including top industrial leaders, investors, scientists, and mining experts, to chart the future of the State’s mineral sector.
The event will focus on key areas such as coal and energy, hydrocarbons, limestone and cement, critical minerals, and the role of technology in transforming mining practices. One of the key attractions of the conclave will be the exclusive one-on-one sessions between the Chief Minister and participating investors and subject experts, aimed at fostering direct collaboration and fasttracking decisions.
A special mineral exhibition will also be held at the venue, showcasing Madhya Pradesh’s vast mineral reserves. The state contributes significantly to national production—73% of India’s copper, 29% of rock phosphate, and 26% of manganese, along with other vital resources like limestone, coal, and bauxite. Top officials and representatives from Coal India, Hindustan Copper Ltd, Adani Cement, Indian Bureau of Mines, and Geological Survey of India will be in attendance, signaling strong industry interest.
MoUs to be signed
The conclave will also witness the signing of major Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs):
* Between Coal India Ltd, the MP Directorate of Geology & Mining, and MP State Mineral Corporation for critical mineral exploration and mining.
* Between the MP State Mineral Corporation, Texmin, and IISER Bhopal to promote scientific research and resource sharing in mineral exploration.
In addition to investment and exploration, sessions will delve into automation, AI and machine learning in mining, digital transformation, energy security, and sustainable practices. The potential of coal bed methane (CBM) and other alternative energy sources will also be explored. The first edition of the conclave, held in October 2024 in Bhopal, attracted investment proposals worth Rs 19,650 crore from 11 major industrial groups. This year’s edition is expected to build further momentum in positioning Madhya Pradesh as a national hub for mineral-based industries and a key driver of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
