PM Modi to deliver valedictory address at BJP MPs' workshop
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: The BJP Parliamentary Party unanimously adopted a resolution on Next Gen Reforms of GST during the two-day workshop, which began in New Delhi yesterday. In the resolution, which was presented by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, the BJP MPs congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this bold and citizen-friendly thought move and expressed their gratitude to the people. Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that MPs from NDA parties will also join the workshop today. He said that Prime Minister Modi will make the concluding remarks at the valedictory event of the workshop.
The resolution stated that the next phase of reforms has further simplified the system and placed the citizen at its heart. It said, rates on food and medicines as well as prices of electronic goods have been significantly reduced, distortions such as inverted duties are being corrected, and procedures for small businesses, exporters and startups are being streamlined.
It added that these reforms reflect the goal of the Narendra Modi government to bring ease in the lives of citizens, empower traders and reinforce India’s path to self-reliance. It was mentioned in the resolution that steady growth in monthly GST collection, touching 2 lakh crore rupees, is a certain indication of greater compliance, and it is also indicative of buoyancy in the Indian economy.
The resolution has called upon manufacturers, traders, big and small, to take pride in ensuring that reductions and rebates flow directly to the consumer. It said, by passing on every saving and every relief, we honour the Prime Minister’s vision while strengthening the trust between shopkeeper and customer, trader and citizen. It said, lower prices will fuel higher demand, while higher demand will boost prosperity for businesses, and prosperity will reinforce the strength of the nation.
New reforms in the GST introduced recently under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi have the potential of achieving all the key objectives and hence merit commendation. In just eight years, the GST taxpayer base has more than doubled from 66 lakh in 2017 to over 1.5 crore today, and annual collections have surged to more than 22 lakh crore in Financial Year 2024-25. It further said that GST collections have now reached close to 2 lakh crore a month, much higher than when this historic reform was implemented.
