Prajwal Revanna sentenced to life imprisonment in rape case
BENGALURU [Maha Media]: A special court in Bengaluru will announce the sentence today for former JDS MP and grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Prajwal Revanna, in the rape case filed by his domestic help. The court had found Revanna guilty on Friday. He appeared emotional during the verdict and broke down while leaving the courtroom.
The case was filed by a 47-year-old woman who worked at the Revanna family farmhouse. In April last year, she lodged an FIR accusing Prajwal of repeatedly raping her since 2021 and threatening to leak videos if she told anyone.
The court had concluded the hearings on 18 July. Revanna was charged under various sections including rape, voyeurism, criminal intimidation, and leaking obscene images. There are a total of four rape cases filed against him—this is the first in which he has been convicted.
