5th Test: India reach 204/6 vs England
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Karun Nair scored a fighting fifty as India reached 204 for 6 at Stumps on Day 1 of the fifth and final Test against England at Kennington Oval, London.
Sai Sudharsan too helped India's cause with a gritty knock of 38 but rest of the Indian batters failed to play noticeable knocks under the overcast conditions that saw the England pacers dominate. Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue picked two wickets apiece while Chris Woakes scalped one.
Due to rain interruptions, only 64 overs of play was possible on the opening day after England's stand-in captain Ollie Pope won the toss and opted to bowl first. Karun Nair (52 not out) and Washington Sundar (19 not out) were in the middle for India when umpires called off the day.
England find themselves in a bit of trouble as Chris Woakes got injured in the 57th over. He fears a shoulder dislocation.
