Team India aims final berth in Super-4 clash
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: The Indian team under Suryakumar Yadav is set to face Bangladesh in the Super-4 match of the Asia Cup cricket tournament today. Notably, Men in Blue defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets in the first match of this round.
Qualification-wise, if India win today, they are almost set to secure their berth in the final of the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, Bangladesh has defeated Sri Lanka in their first Super-4 match. If this team succeeds in defeating India, their hopes of reaching the final will also increase significantly.
India has been very dominant over Bangladesh in T20I cricket. In terms of head-to-head, there have been 17 matches between the two teams in which India has won 16 times, while Bangladesh has won only one match.
Bangladesh defeated India for the first and last time in this format by 7 wickets in a match played in Delhi in 2019. However, the last encounter between the two teams was in Hyderabad last year. In that matchup, the Indian team secured a win by 133 runs.
The Indian team might go with the same playing-11 that played against Pakistan in the Super-4 match. This means Abhishek Sharma will again be seen opening with Shubman Gill, and Sanju Samson will play in the middle order. Jasprit Bumrah could be the only specialist fast bowler in the team.
All-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube will assist Bumrah in the pace bowling department. Besides these, three spinners will be included in the form of Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy.
One change is possible in Bangladesh's playing-11 as Tanzim Hasan could get a chance in place of Shoriful Islam. Notably, Shoriful conceded 49 runs in the last match against Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, captain Litton Das complained of a back strain in the last match. However, he is expected to be fit before the match against India
