Putin likely to visit India this month after 5 years
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Russian President Vladimir Putin may visit India in the last week of August. According to Russian state news agency TASS, India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval provided this information during his ongoing visit to Russia.
During a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Doval said, "We have now developed very good relations, which we value. There is a strong partnership between our countries and we engage in high-level discussions."
NSA Doval arrived in Russia on Wednesday. A meeting between Doval and Putin may also take place. This is Doval's first visit to Moscow after Operation Sindoor. This visit is considered quite significant due to comments made by US President Donald Trump regarding India's relations with Russia.
Russian President Putin visited India on December 6, 2021. He came to India for just 4 hours. During this time, 28 agreements were signed between India and Russia. These included military and technical agreements. Both countries set a target of $30 billion (2 lakh 53 thousand crore rupees) annual trade by 2025.
Putin's first visit to India will be after the Ukraine war started in February 2022. This visit is expected to advance a new economic roadmap for 2030 between the two countries.
India and Russia have agreed to double their bilateral trade to more than $100 billion annually. Currently, the bilateral trade between the two countries is about $60 billion.
PM Modi visited Russia twice in the year 2024. He went to Russia on October 22 for the BRICS summit. Earlier in July, Modi also made a two-day visit to Russia. At that time, he invited Putin to visit India.
