Ayodhya prepares for historic flag-hoisting ceremony

NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: Ayodhya is gearing up for another grand moment as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple on November 25.

The event, being described as spiritually momentous, will mark the hoisting of the sacred flag atop the temple’s shikhar (spire).

The flag was crafted in Gujarat by six artisans over a period of 25 days. The flag will be hoisted atop the Ram Mandir at 11:55 am, symbolizing the completion of the temple’s construction. The ceremony will be witnessed by over 6,000 invited guests, 1,200 engineers and support staff, more than 600 volunteers, and around 1,000 security personnel.

Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Ram Mandir Trust, confirmed that the flag will be saffron in colour, featuring the sun symbol, with ‘Om’ inscribed at its centre and an image of the Kovidar tree.

The temple’s main spire stands 161 feet high, and a 30-foot flagpole has been installed atop it. The flag will therefore be hoisted at a height of 191 feet from the ground. This specially designed saffron flag carries deep religious, historical, and cultural significance, linking Ayodhya’s heritage, the Suryavansh (Solar Dynasty), and the Ramayana’s spiritual symbolism.

Ahead of the ceremony, PM Modi will participate in a 1,100-metre-long roadshow in Ayodhya. At seven designated locations along the route, cultural programmes will take place to welcome him. CM Yogi Adityanath will arrive this afternoon to review preparations. RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat is also scheduled to reach Ayodhya around the same time. Spiritual leader Devkinandan Thakur has already arrived in the city.

Mohan Bhagwat will arrive in Ayodhya on 24 November and stay until 25 November. The RSS has not disclosed his scheduled meetings.
